Unpacking CCGG’s Latest Guidance on Executive Compensation and Energy Sector Compensation Trends from the U.S. 

As we end the year and prepare for proxy disclosure in 2026, Meridian Compensation Partners will provide an overview of the latest policy guidance from the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance and practical implications for Total Rewards teams. Meridian will also cover the latest energy sector compensation and design trends from the U.S. and their potential implication on Canadian energy company design.

Matt Seto

Matt is a Partner with Meridian and trusted advisor to compensation committees and senior management teams across North America on executive compensation strategy and design. He consults on a broad range of matters including executive and director benchmarking, short- and long-term incentive plan design, peer group development, CEO pay-for-performance analysis, and proxy advisor and other Say on Pay related matters.

Matt’s clients include Canadian and U.S.-based private and public companies in a variety of industries, with specific concentration on natural resource and manufacturing companies including mining, energy, chemicals, industrials and utilities.

 Andrew McElheran

Andrew is a Partner and leads Meridian’s Toronto office. He previously worked for several years in Meridian’s Boston office. He has more than 15 years of experience with executive compensation issues in Canada and the U.S. alike, and has clients on both sides of the border.

Andrew consults on the full range of executive compensation matters, including compensation philosophy and strategy, short- and long-term incentive program design, other program design and related governance, firm financial performance analyses (including performance measure selection, goal setting, and pay/performance alignment studies), and executive and outside director compensation benchmarking. Within Meridian, Andrew is a firm-wide expert for performance measurement and incentive plan design issues. He co-leads Meridian’s performance measurement team and is a member of Meridian’s valuation team and financial services team.
