Insights for the Boardroom: Compensation Communications with Boards and Senior Executives

It is no secret: compensation communications can be difficult, thanks to the natural tensions that exist in any organization. Conversations with Board members and executive leaders bring their own unique challenges, and Human Resources leaders are expected to manage these sensitive communications.  

This panel-style event provides compensation professionals with the tools and perspectives necessary to effectively support communications with Board members and senior executives, particularly when navigating the complexities of total rewards and compensation strategy decisions. Our panelists will provide their advice on presenting key compensation data, trends, and insights through the lens that Board members need to make strategic decisions, while managing the natural tensions that arise between Board priorities and management goals.

Bio Details

David Collyer

David Collyer is a seasoned energy industry Board member and executive. He currently serves as the Human Resources and Compensation Committee Chair at ARC Resources and is the Human Resources and Governance Committee Chair at Altalink. He previously served as President and Country Chair of Shell Canada. Following his tenure at Shell, he led the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers from 2008 to 2014, focusing on environmental performance and public engagement.

Ferio Pugliese

Ferio Pugliese is the Senior Vice President, People & Culture, Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability at Parkland Corporation. He oversees the strategic alignment and execution of Parkland’s People and Culture, Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability initiatives. Ferio brings extensive leadership experience as a senior executive with Air Canada, Hydro One, and WestJet. 

Kenneth Yung, CFA

Kenneth Yung, CFA, is the Founding Partner of Laulima Consulting, established in 2024. Before founding Laulima, he led the Canadian human capital practice at a major global consulting firm. Kenneth has two decades of experience in aligning compensation and total rewards with business and talent strategies, advising a diverse range of Boards and senior executives at multinational companies, publicly-traded issuers, private companies and private equity backed firms. He is the adviser to a number of energy companies based in Calgary.

Alisa Forsgren

Ailsa Forsgren is a Partner at Laulima Consulting, joining the firm in 2024. Ailsa has over 30 years of experience in compensation and human resources, advising Boards and senior executives on their human capital strategy. She provides strategic advice on a wide range of compensation topics for executives and the broader workforce, including executive compensation, incentive design, job architecture, market benchmarking
