Highly qualified total rewards leader with 20 years of operational and strategic experience at progressively higher levels in the Canadian Forces (CF), plus 13 years’ experience in the energy, airline and consulting industries. Earned reputation for excellence in implementing creative, integrated and flexible policies that facilitate the attraction and retention of critical talent. Exceptional employee relations skills, successful at motivating employees and creating a highly productive workforce.

Key strengths in: Policy and Pay Structure Design, Market Benchmarking, Executive Compensation, Project/Change Leadership, Quantitative Analysis, Short/Long Term Incentive Design.

  • Currently with City of Calgary in charge of the Office of the Councillors providing total rewards, finance and IT support to City Council and staff.
  • Gallagher Benefits, Calgary, Alberta, 2018-2020 as the Senior Compensation Consultant for Western Canada.
  • Transalta, Calgary, Alberta, 2014-2016, Director Total Rewards, led a team of 8 in designing and maintaining all compensation, benefit and pension programs and in administering HRIS and payroll.
  • Westjet Airlines, Calgary, Alberta, 2011-2014, Senior Manager of Compensation, led a team of 2 compensation analysts in maintaining competitiveness of WestJet's innovative compensation programs. Advised People and Compensation Committee.
  • Shell Canada, Calgary, Alberta, 2006-2011, Manager of Policy and Compensation, led a team of 4 compensation and policy analysts in maintaining competitiveness of staff and hourly pay, bonuses, stock options, performance shares, allowances and the creation and maintenance of benefit policies. Advised on executive compensation, produced annual proxy disclosure and administered stock options.
  • National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa, 1998-2006, Director of Military Pay, 2002-2006, Led a team of 110 military and unionized civilian personnel in the delivery of over $4B per year in military pay and benefits to 90,000 military members. Director of Pay Policy Development, 1998-2001, Led a team of officers in the development and maintenance of all the Canadian Forces' pay and allowance policies.
  • MBA, CCP, President of Calgary Total Rewards Network 2013-2016. President of the Naval Museum of Alberta Society since 2017.
